Simple Manly Birthday Card

Good morning!  Today I wanted to show you a simple, MANLY birthday card.  Ok, well maybe not that manly, per se, but NOT girly.  That is pretty hard for most of us!

You could use this for a girl, too, if you really wanted.  But I designed it especially for MAY IS MAN CARD MONTH at Saturday Stampin on May 25.  Simple, easy cards you can give to men.  Not a bow or rhinestone to be found that day.  Contact me for details if you would like to join us.

Notice the little silver brads, where I really wanted to put rhinestones!  How manly.  Kinda like a rivet.

The simplicity of this card will likely go unnoticed by the man that receives it, so that is a bonus.  Do they really care?  I guess some of them do.  As long as my husband continues to believe that by my making his birthday cards, my business is "paying for itself", then we are all good.

Now pick yourselves up off of the floor and try to stop laughing at the hilarity of that last comment, and check out the supplies I used:

Stamp Set:  You're Amazing
Cardstock:  Whisper White and Gumball Green
Accessories:  Star punch from holiday punch pack, Gumball Green ribbon, small brads, Scallop rectangle Clearlits die

See you Saturday!

Shelli Picked Me!

I am so excited that I just can't stand it!  At every Stampin' Up event, there is a basket for you to enter your swaps in a contest.  Shelli and Sara personally choose their 3 favorites.  Mine was the first one she showed!  OMG, I coulda died!  I got to walk to the stage and collect my $50 SHOPPING SPREE from Shelli herself, and my name on the card was handwritten in Shelli's pretty handwriting!  This is me acting like a goofball after getting back from the stage.  I am so glad I didn't trip or something!

Here I am waiting in line to get into the event in the morning.
(I had put a little bit cuter picture up here to make up for the goofy one.)

And one with my friend (and downline) Delaney.  She is the master of taking pictures of yourself like this….I am horrible at it. So I make her do it all the time.

We even did this one in the hotel room so we could send it to our new friend Missy, so she would be able to find us in the lobby.  Oh she had no idea what she was in for..

We also met many other amazing women and saw some again that we had met in the past.  What a fantastic group of women to be able to associate myself with.  We had such a blast.  (And got to take home our new catalogs!)  Now we are already organizing ourselves for Convention.  Woot woot!  It is all just so exciting.  If you don't believe me, then maybe you should try it and find out?

I LOVE NEW COLORS!

Yes, I am screaming.  I am so excited about the Color Refresh, that I completely forgot about the New "In-Colors" coming out in June!  OMG…what a nice surprise that was!  (Once in a while it pays to be such a dingbat! LOL)

New colors are so fun!  It is just so inspiring to be able to make new combinations and try new things.  I have even been given a personal challenge…to make something awesome out of an "ugly" color.  I can do it!  All colors are awesome, in their own way.  Ill post more about the new colors once they are officially released.  But for now, here is some info on the Color Refresh.  And after that, an awesome video showing our new stamp boxes for wood-mount sets.  You have GOT to check it out!

Here is the summary of the refresh.  The video that follows is a tad bit long-winded, but it does a very good job of explaining all of the changes.  Don't let it burn you out and skip the box video!  I promise the last one is much shorter, and much more fun!  But hey, a girl has got to learn about her colors, too.

Ok ok, this one will wake you back up….

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!
(screaming again)

With Sympathy

I needed to create a simple card, to balance some more involved projects we are made at club yesterday.  I think that sympathy cards should be simple…so they don't overpower their own meaning.  This one is quick and easy, but hopefully you won't need to have TOO many on hand.

Random Birthday Tags

Yesterday we celebrated Ashley's 13th birthday.  (My youngest child)  We had pizza, Oreo Blizzard cake and played XBox, and later today we are going to see "The Croods" in 3D.  We gave each of the girls who came to the party a party favor, called a "Bucket of Randomness".  We bought large metal tins (leftover from the Easter clearance aisle) and filled them with randomness.  For example, Mac and Cheese, Qtips, Applesauce, Chapstick, Oreos, bubbles and deodorant.  Yes, deodorant.  That was Alexa's idea, her older sister.  She said "I REALLY want to give them deodorant!"….so we did.  Yep-random.

Anyway…I made these cute tags to match her color scheme.  They are random! Ok, they are all the same in format, but the clips and the stamps in the middle of the circles have no meaning.

Then I made this for the inside of the tags, just using my word processing program.  How fun!

Here is the final product.  The tags look kinda wimpy now, but they are still darling, and I had a lot of fun making them.  Creating stuff for teenagers is easy…they don't really care!  Ha!

I havent decorated for a party in a long time, so I was kind of proud of myself for throwing this together in a couple hours.  (I decided at the last minute to decorate)

Well, have a nice day.  I am looking forward to going to the movies so that I can have some peace!  Right?  Anyone with teenagers knows what I am talking about….

Spring Flowers

Well, it is finally starting to look and feel like spring around here!  Today it is supposed to be 70 and sunny.  I love this time of year, and look forward to everything blooming.  (But not weeding the flowerbeds, yuck!)

I wanted to make a card using lots of spring colors and images, and this is what I came up with.  I don't know if people really hang caged birds outside, but that is not the point.

I was also inspired by Diana Gibbs' posting format, and thought I would add a little close up of the pretty flowers!  Just smash them into a piercing mat when you stick the tiny pearls on to get the edges to lift just a bit.

Stamp Sets:  Aviary and Thoughts and Prayers
Cardstock:  Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Pool Party, Basic Grey and Whisper White
Accessories:  Itty Bitty Shapes Flower Punch, Jewelry Tag Punch, Soft Suede and Lucky Limeade Markers

Thanks for coming by today-- I hope you are enjoying a nice spring day too!
